"Day By Day" is the newest single from Bassoonist / Composer Joy Guidry. Their critically acclaimed 2022 album Radical Acceptance was heralded as "an intense, vulnerable work that demands equally thoughtful attention and engagement" by Pitchfork and "explosive free jazz" by The Wire.

Leaning into the quieter and reflective moments of that album, "Day By Day" is a meditative ambient composition that Joy describes as a hug to their younger self. Guidry's characteristic bassoon both lays the ambient ground floor (if the floor in this case was a placid body of water) as well as pulling deeply emotional melodies towards the track's later half. Keys are provided by Scott Li and provide thrilling flourishes that recall restrained flights of Julius Eastman.
